My Take On It

I happened to see something the other day that made me laugh very hard when I initially saw it and after some serious reflection made me very angry.

The reason I laughed, initially, was because somebody actually accused the host of Strange Days... Indeed, Errol Bruce-Knapp, and contributing editor, John Velez of being, and I quote "UFO Debunkers for the Coverup Cabal." (And I really need someone to explain to me what a Cabal is anyway.)

The reason I initially laughed was because I cannot fathom anything being more ludicrous than that little statement. Errol Bruce-Knapp has been working tirelessly running the UFO UpDates email List, producing and hosting Strange Days... Indeed and getting involved in actually doing some investigation into UFOs for one reason and one reason only. He wants to know the truth about what this phenomenon. Oh, and it should be mentioned that Errol derives very little income from doing this, believe me, he is not involved in Ufology to make money. (Perhaps unlike the person who made the rash statement about him.)

John Velez is also not involved in ufology to make money. John is an abduction experiencer - which means that he has been actively involved with alien beings on a more personal basis - being taken without consent from various places on this planet, including his home. John Velez is the creator and webmaster of the Abduction Information Center and moderator of an e-mail List for UFO abduction experiencers. He also does not derive any substantial income from his involvement with Ufology and anyone who thinks that John or Errol are Government agents planted among us to sow seeds of disinformation needs to get some serious, professional therapy.

So yeah, it was quite funny to see some idiot make such a preposterous claim but then I got thinking about it and the more I mulled it over, the angrier I got.

IF we are to presume that various governments are involved in a cover-up of information about UFOs, it stands to reason that there really would be an active campaign of disinformation going on in order to discredit stories involving valid and unexplainable UFO sightings. With that being said, it means that calling anybody an agent of disinformation would be akin to calling somebody a witch in the Salem of the 16 and 17 hundreds or a communist in the McCarthy era of tThe United States of the 1950's.

Calling somebody an agent of disinformation immediately discredits anything and everything they could possibly say about UFOs and places them under intense scrutiny by anyone who takes ufology seriously.

This means that time and effort have to be wasted to determine what is fact or fiction and it also means in some instances that people have to spend time, energy and in some instances, money, to prove that they are not one of these so-called Disinformation Agents. In many cases, this is time, energy and money that could be more effectively used to try and get closer to the truth about UFOs instead of being wasted.

If someone involved in Ufology doesn't like somebody else, they label that person a disinformation agent. If somebody disagrees with some item of a UFO investigation, they label the person who announced that item, a disinformation agent. How do you prove them wrong? If you say they're being malicious or lying, they simply claim that of course, that is what an agent of disinformation would say.

It's time to make anyone who bandies about the term "Disinformation Agent" or anything remotely resembling the term to put up or shut up every single time they spout off.....

But that's just my take on it.....
