Strange Days... Indeed - #224

My Take On It
I've noticed a trend that seems to be evident with Mass Media in their coverage of the UFO phenomenon and it also seems to be evident with Skeptical organizations like CSICOP. The trend that I'm referring to, is a watering down or a filtering and diluting of the information that is out there about UFOs. How do they do it? Simple, they lump UFOs in with Ghosts, Bigfoot, Parapsychology and sightings of Elvis. The big question of course is not how do they do it, the crux of the matter is why do they do it? Once again, that answer is simple - to destroy credibility. If it can be established that somebody reporting an UFO sighting can be placed into the same category as someone reporting they sighted Elvis Presley buying a bunch of Twinkies at the some remote gas station, the general population would just giggle and go back to doing whatever it was they were doing - at least, that is what they hope. In many ways, we're even guilty of doing it ourselves. Some of the UFO researchers out there also study other elements of the paranormal and by doing so, things within the UFO realm that they discover sometimes get lumped in and once again, watered down or diluted. There are many things out there regarding UFOs that are what I consider solid evidence of their existence and I'm speaking about intelligently piloted vehicles that more than likely are not from this planet. There are thousands of images recorded on film and videotape out there. There are hundreds of thousands of reports of all manner of flying objects by people out there that can only be considered as honest, quality observers such as pilots, astronauts or police officers. Shows such as this one do notmake up reports, we don't manufacture "sightings" and we surely do not twist reports to make them more exciting. And think about it for a second, every single week on here, we tell you about reported sightings that have taken place... new sightings every... single... week and have done so for over 4 years now... you do the math. In fact, on programs like Strange Days... Indeed, we go out of our way to ensure that people like Jonathan Reed are flushed out of the system so all we have left are the facts about UFOs and yet, the trend remains to lump UFOs in with sightings of The Loch Ness Monster and the ability to foretell the future by reading the bumps on somebody's head..... Gee, she didn't duck when she was supposed to and that mark means she will meet a tall, dark stranger with blue eyes - yeah, right! It drives me crazy that we allow this to go on and don't bother to try to stop it. I mean, I understand the pull of stories like how a cult religion is trying to clone a human being and being quick to identify them as a UFO fringe group. UFO fringe group? The Raelians are so far out there that any serious UFO researcher gave up on them years ago. The Sci-Fi Channel in the United States seem to be doing the most work right now to try and maintain a consistent and quality focus on UFOS and alien visitors and short of some group like CSICOP trying to malign their efforts by pointing out that they are a 'Science Fiction Channel devoted to entertainment', I sincerely hope that their work continues and we finally get some solid answers to what is out there. The bottom line in all of this is that we have to stop thinking of UFOs and alien visitors as being a part of the paranormal because it is quickly becoming evident through all of the evidence that they are part of the normal everyday activities of what happen on this planet. Research and investigation into UFOs needs to be conducted in a serious and scientific manner without it being filed in the same place as the sighting of some Leprechaun hiding his gold. We have to stop organizations like CSICOP and others like them from destroying the credibility of the UFO phenomenon by diluting it with stories about sightings of The Abominable Snowman. But that's just my take on it! |
