My Take On It
Want to know what really happened in Roswell, New Mexico back in July of 1947? So do I. A gentleman by the name of Jim Keith published a story in FATE magazine back in January of 2000 and like a bad cold, it's come around again for discussion on the UFO lists, most notably on the UFO UpDates List. I won't bore you by quoting the entire article; I'll just focus on the main points contained in it. Mr. Keith's source is somebody that describes himself as a researcher/instructor of engineering in some school in Roswell and the names of his sources were mentioned to Mr. Keith but because of security clearance issues, they can't be named. In otherwords, 'I know this is all a fact because a friend of a friend of some other guy I know ' you get the idea. The idea here is that this information was concocted because of conversations that this source had with some of his friends in the military. So let's get down to the gist of it. The war was over and America had a secret to conceal really? In any case, the secret was that they had no working atomic bombs even though they were saying they had about 500. Supposedly the concern was that the Americans had no real nuclear deterrent against the 'Soviet Threat' and the American government was scared that the Soviets would find this out. But there was another secret. Apparently, many of the bombs dropped during World War 2 missed their targets and some of them missed the targets by up to half a mile. So, the 509th Bomb group, were to test atomic bombs and improve the accuracy of delivering the weapon to the target. Everybody with me so far? Good. The stage is set. What Mr. Keith states is that what really happened was that a B-29 flying from Albuquerque to Roswell, accidentally or on purpose, dropped a bomb-shape a bomb that didn't have a war-head and on impact, this thing flattened out so that everyone mistook as a flying saucer. Oh, oh, I almost forgot, the debris spread around the bomb was just, 'Chaff' -aluminum strips of foil to confuse radar - that the bomber also dropped. Now of course the Air Force would conceal and cover up this story because "accidentally" dropping an atomic bomb might upset some people. There case closed, everyone go back to work. Right? Well, as they say in some circles close, but close only counts with atomic bombs. First, Truth be known, the United States never stated how many atomic bombs they had in stock back in 1947 or would they have cause to. Secondly, in 1947, there was no Soviet Threat, the Red Army was in pretty bad shape because of the war and the Americans had more than enough conventional weapons to deal with the problem. So let's move to the bombs missing their targets. Sorry, no surprise there, and no secret. It was a well-known fact that most of the conventional bombs dropped on targets actually missed their mark, although the Norden bombsight managed to bring things a little closer. Bombers traditionally went through training to make sure they could hit a target and Roswell did have a bomb testing range where they could practice and errr remember what I said earlier Close does count with atomic bombs. But finally, the part I love is how a bomb dropped from a B-29 could magically change the laws of physics and instead of creating a crater where it hit it simply flattened out like a pancake. Sorry, that doesn't cut it and the Chaff? Oops, sorry, but I suspect that strips of aluminum-foil would not be mis-identified as coming from some other world. The final part in this is that the air force would have been all over themselves to state that an unarmed bomb was what was discovered on Mac Brazel's ranch instead of some half-baked story about a weather balloon. Do you really want to know what was covered up in Roswell? So do I and one thing I will say is that it was not some bomb dropped by accident But that's just my take on it! |
